KMI Advantage

KMI designs our systems with everyone in mind.  For the operator we design our equipment safe and easy to maintain.  For the engineer we design our equipment to exceed expectation in performing the job the equipment was designed to do.  For the plant manager we design our systems to be as efficient as possible to increase through put and lower the pay back period.  To get a better idea of the KMI Advantage please read through the following list.

The large access doors we include between the stages of the cleaning machine are equipped with Brixon Type Latches. Our washer doors are of a special "gasketless" design. KMI’s standard washer door is equipped with a landing platform and OSHA acceptable stairway (not a ladder) and handrail.
Since we include stainless steel anti-skid, grip strut grating over the full open area of each tank.
The spray piping side of the spray tunnel has been configured to allow the operator to easily walk through and service the spray zones without tripping over the bottom piping while still ensuring good solution coverage of the parts.
We have also sized the screens conservatively to minimize the frequency that they need to be removed and cleaned.

We have included "scald free" design type tank cover handles.
We have sized our tanks to hold approximately 3 times the pump capacity (pump rated GPM X 3 minutes) +/- 5%.

We have include 4" diameter pressure gauges and 5" diameter temperature gauges on all stages.
We plan to attach the baffles (that silhouette the parts at the ends of each spray zone) to the spray tunnel walls with bolts and clip angles instead of welding them permanently in place.
KMI includes part hanger drop rod guides the full length of the Cleaning Machine and through the blow off unit to minimize the possibility of excessive part swing due to the sprays and blow off air knives. This will minimize the potential for conveyor wrecks.
KMI’s standard powder cure incorporates a combination of very low velocity and radiant heat to warm the parts and powder with minimum risk of dislodging powder. We use unique scroll-type heaters that have been proven in many industries on a wide variety of applications. The advanced heating principle of the scroll-heater brings new economy in fuel consumption. Higher combustion efficiency reduces fuel costs materially.
KMI's heaters use modulating temperature controls assuring even temperatures which are not attainable with "on and off" type controllers.

KMI is the first company to install a low NOx burner in a powder cure oven.  The clean-burning design of the Maxon low NOX and ultra low NOx burners allows for the NOx and CO emissions to be extremely low.
The recirculating and exhaust fans for each zone of the oven are of the plug fan type design to allow quick and easy replacement of the fan wheel, shaft and bearings if the need should ever arise.
The cure oven air distribution ductwork is designed to strategically discharge the recirculating air near the floor of the oven with adjustable dampers to provide for a uniform temperature throughout the oven.
The oven panels provided by KMI have aluminized steel inner and outer skins versus the lower cost competitors’ design, which uses sometimes uses pre-painted cold-rolled steel outer skins and galvalum inner skins, which does not hold up as well to higher temperatures.

We incorporate a slotted duct system the full length of the cooling tunnel to force the cool air supplied to the tunnel directly up onto the parts. This accelerates the cooling process by creating a higher velocity and more turbulence over the parts.
KMI's cooling tunnels use vane axial type supply and exhaust fans. These fans are equipped with straightening vanes to increase the efficiency of the fans.

Our powder room Tri-Flow “isolation tunnels” are based on patent #5,849,053 issued Dec. 15, 1998, have a calculated savings of 14.64 to 21.96 tons of air-conditioning load.
Exclusive Environmental Room Plenum Design.

Another unique feature of the KMI provided environmental room is the implementation of the KLEEN-WALL PLENUM system (patent #5,885,154). The environmental system is directly fed to the overhead plenum (eliminating costly duct and diffuser system) where the conditioned air is evenly distributed throughout the entire room.
