Pretreatment Machines & Cleaning Machines

Pretreatment Machines

Remove dirt, oils, greases and/or light oxidation from steel, galvanized steel, aluminum or plastic parts. This prepares the part surfaces for a strong bond to accept the coating applied. These cleaning machines can be designed to treat the part surfaces with either iron or zinc phosphate or chrome conversion solutions. Chrome or chrome-free surface seal rinses and final DI water rinses can be utilized depending on the paint performance requirements.

Material handling

Continuous conveyor speeds ranging from 3 to 60+ fpm are common as well batch-type indexing systems for very large parts and/or low production volume parts.

Controllers

Automatic cleaning machine process equipment and chemical controls that monitor and control solution temperatures, spray pressures, tank levels and chemical concentrations are available to provide tighter process control and lower operating costs.

Sludge Removal

Automatic phosphate sludge removal equipment can be furnished to reduce cleanup labor and disposal costs. Filtration and oil removal equipment can also be included with pretreatment machines as well as parts washers.

Pretreatment and Cleaning Machines

Cleaning Machines — Washers for Non-coated Parts

Remove dirt, oils and greases from galvanized or stainless steel parts or internal engine parts that do not require coatings. The parts can be conveyed through the parts washer by either wire mesh or slat type belt conveyors or by monorail or power & free conveyors or by walking beam or indexing hoist conveyors. Typically, these machines are configured with 3 to 9 stages and heated by natural gas, steam, hot water or electricity.

Environmental Components

To remove dirt particles from the cleaner stage(s), bag-type filtration is utilized to reduce nozzle and tank cleanup and maintenance costs. To remove oil and grease from both the cleaning and rinse stages, equipment is utilized that extends cleaner life and reduces both water consumption and waste treatment costs.
